WARREN, Pa. (April 29, 2025) – Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of a more than $1.2 million water line upgrade project in the City of Warren to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting.
“Providing reliable service to our customers means making continuous investments in our infrastructure,” said Jon Natale, senior manager of operations for Pennsylvania American Water. “We prioritize projects based on number of criteria, including the need for larger mains to handle system demands, age of existing pipe and history of main breaks or service interruptions.”
The project, which began this month, includes installing more than 2,000 feet of new 12-inch and 8-inch ductile iron pipe along several streets, replacing existing water mains that were installed in the 1950s in the following areas:
- Struthers Street (from Pennsylvania Avenue to 151 Struthers St.)
- Market Street (from Pennsylvania Avenue to Fourth Avenue)
Crews will work on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the main installation, including connecting all customer service lines to the new mains, along with final restoration and paving, later this summer.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. This infrastructure upgrade project is not only an important investment in public health and safety, it also helps support the economic health of the community. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout the economy.
