Iowa Utilities Commission Approves New Rates for Iowa American Water

DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 30, 2025) – On July 15, 2025, the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC) issued an Order that approved the Company’s compliance filing and makes new rates that result from the IUC’s Final Decision and Order effective August 1, 2025. The company filed its rate review with the IUC on May 1, 2024. It has been approximately four years since the company’s rates last increased.

The increased rates reflect approximately $157 million in infrastructure investments since its last filing to improve and replace water infrastructure in Clinton and the Iowa Quad Cities and to continue to provide safe, clean, reliable and affordable water service. Investments include replacement of aging water pipelines and upgrading of treatment plants, storage tanks, wells, and pumping stations.

“We are committed to making appropriate investments to continue to provide high-quality water and wastewater services,” said Brad Nielsen, President, Iowa American Water. “Our effective capital planning and consistent focus on efficiently operating our systems keep our services compliant with state and federal regulations for the benefit of the customers and communities we serve in Iowa.”

Under the IUC’s order, the approved rates represented a total annualized revenue increase of approximately $13.6 million. The average residential customer using 4,000 gallons of water per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $8.
