U.S. Rep. Mark Messmer Visits Indiana American Water’s Terre Haute Treatment Facility to Discuss Water Infrastructure and Policy Priorities

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - August 8, 2025 -- Indiana American Water welcomed U.S. Representative Mark Messmer (IN-08) yesterday for a tour of its Terre Haute water treatment facility, highlighting the company’s commitment to delivering safe, clean, reliable, and affordable water service to communities across Indiana.

During the visit, company leaders and Congressman Messmer discussed several key policy issues currently being addressed in Congress, including the allocation of taxpayer funds for water infrastructure improvements, the removal of lead service lines, and emerging solutions for treating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

 “Today’s visit to Indiana American Water’s treatment facility was a prevailing reminder of the critical work being done every day to protect our most vital resource—clean water,” said Congressman Messmer. “I was impressed by the company’s commitment to innovation, safety, and environmental stewardship. Their efforts help ensure that families in our community have access to water that is safe, reliable, and affordable.”

Indiana American Water President Barry Suits emphasized the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors to address aging infrastructure and environmental challenges.
