Kentucky American Water Announces $1.4 Million Water Main Replacement Project in Sadieville

Kentucky American Water has announced a $1.4 million water main improvement project in the City of Sadieville in Scott County. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, clean and reliable water service, the company’s contractor will replace water mains in Sadieville on Johnson Alley, a portion of College St. and a portion of Pike St. (Kentucky Route 32) beginning this month.

Kentucky American Water’s contractor will replace aging cast iron water mains along these streets with new, ductile iron pipes as part of the company’s Qualified Infrastructure Program (QIP). This work will improve service reliability for customers by reducing service disruptions as well as by maintaining and improving water quality. In addition to replacing water mains, contractors will also replace fire hydrants, valves, meters and utility-owned service lines along these routes.

The company’s contractor crews plan to perform most work Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as weather and other factors permit, with rolling progress made until all mains are replaced. Final paving and other restoration of areas impacted by the project will follow. Final paving on the Pike St. portion of the project will occur in partnership with the Kentucky Highway Transportation Cabinet since KYTC has already been paving other sections of that roadway.

To support the safety of the public and workers, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns may occur during work hours. Kentucky American Water values the safety of its teams and advises drivers and pedestrians to reduce speed and use extra caution when traveling through work zones.
