Press Releases
Kentucky American Water has announced an investment of approximately $4.5 million in additional water main improvement projects in Lexington. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, clean and reliable water service, company contractors have begun or will soon begin replacing water mains in Lexington on:
- Devine Ave.
- Euclid Ave. between High St. and S. Ashland Ave.
- Fontaine Rd. between Chinoe Rd. and High St.
- Walton Ave. between Main St. and Boonesboro Ave.
- Warwick Ct.
- Wilderness Rd.
Kentucky American Water’s contractors will replace aging cast iron water mains along these streets with new, ductile iron pipes as part of the company’s Qualified Infrastructure Program (QIP). This work will improve service reliability for customers by reducing service disruptions as well as by maintaining and improving water quality. In addition to replacing water mains, contractors will also replace fire hydrants, valves, meters and utility-owned service lines along these routes.
The company’s contractor crews generally work Monday through Friday during daytime hours as weather and other factors permit.
To support the safety of the public and workers, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns may occur during work hours. Kentucky American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
