Pennsylvania American Water to Open Doors for Public Tour of Scranton Wastewater Treatment Plant

SCRANTON, Pa. (October 14, 2025) – Pennsylvania American Water invites customers to an open house and tour of its Scranton Wastewater Treatment Plant on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees must register for tours scheduled for 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the Pennsylvania American Water website.

At the event, participants will learn firsthand what happens to wastewater after it leaves their home and goes through the treatment process, see equipment used to maintain the wastewater collection system and find out how to practice watershed protection and conservation.

“Our Scranton Wastewater team is proud to serve more than 30,000 customer connections in Scranton and Dunmore,” said Pennsylvania American Wastewater Operations Manager Matt White. “This open house will provide our customers with a unique opportunity to learn more about the wastewater treatment process and our commitment to the community.”

Customers will have the opportunity to talk with Pennsylvania American Water’s local management team and wastewater treatment professionals and ask questions about the service they receive.

Visitors of all ages will be offered guided outdoor walking tours at this rain-or-shine, no-cost event. Attendees will be asked to sign in, and a parent or guardian must accompany and be responsible for children under 18 years of age.
