Projects to replace approximately 7,500 feet of main throughout several municipalities
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Dec. 15, 2025) – Pennsylvania American Water today announced that more than $2 million in system investments were made to replace over approximately 7,500 feet of aging water main, some dating back to the 1920s, in Annville and Derry townships and Steelton Borough. These upgrades will enhance customer reliability, reduce service disruptions, and improve firefighting water flow.
“Upgrading aging water mains is an important part of helping our customers continue to receive safe, reliable water service,” said Joseph Woodard, senior director of operations for Pennsylvania American Water. “These proactive investments reduce the risk of main breaks, strengthen system reliability and support the long-term needs of our communities.”
In Steelton Borough, the company recently finished installing new large-diameter ductile iron pipe, replacing more than 4,200 feet of aging water mains in the following areas:
- Swatara Street
- Eleanor Street
- Franklin Street
- Steelton High School
Earlier this fall, the company undertook pipe replacement projects along several streets in Annville and Derry townships in the following areas:
