Water Quality in Villa Grove, Camargo Continues To Meet All Quality Standards.
CHAMPAIGN (December 19, 2025) -- Water quality in the City of Villa Grove continues to meet all quality standards while isolated repairs are being done at the water treatment plant in Villa Grove.
“We continue to closely monitor and test water from the Villa Grove plant,” said Lucas Esteppe, Director of Operations, Illinois American Water. “Tests confirm the water is safe to drink and meets all quality standards. We continue to monitor and test the water, as always. There are no quality concerns.”
An existing aerator and detention tank are being bypassed while repairs are being made at the water plant. As a result, some customers have reported experiencing slight aesthetic differences in water quality over the past few days, including what appears to be air bubbles in a glass of water. The issue have been reported in the Village of Camargo, a sale-for-resale customer of Illinois American Water that receives its community water supply from the Villa Grove plant.
“The issues in Villa Grove and Camargo are isolated and temporary,” said Esteppe. “We are aware and monitoring the situation closely. There are not water quality concerns.”
Illinois American Water serves approximately 1,100 direct water customers in the City of Villa Grove, as well as to the Village of Camargo as a sale-for-resale (wholesale) customer.
