Virginia American Water LIFTS Boil Water Advisory for 141 Customers in Prince William County

Alexandria, VA (February 9, 2026) – Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on February 9, Virginia American Water is LIFTING the boil water advisory for customers in the Princedale neighborhood of Prince William County after testing confirmed that drinking water meets all water quality safety standards.

Virginia American Water issued the precautionary boil water advisory on Saturday, February 7, as a conservative measure. The advisory impacted 141 customers in the Princedale neighborhood who reside on the following streets: Northton Court, Princedale Drive, Photo Drive, Packard Drive, Pinwheel Circle and Orangewood Dr.

These customers can now use tap water for all purposes after following the instructions provided below.

Customers no longer need to boil their water, but they should flush household pipes, ice makers, water fountains, etc. prior to using for drinking or cooking using these guidelines:

  • Run a cold water faucet in your home for 3-5 minutes.
  • To flush automatic ice makers, make three batches of ice and discard.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.  Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines specified in the owner’s manual.
  • Run drinking water fountains for one minute at the highest flow rate possible.

The company asks that you please share this information with others who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (people in apartment buildings, nursing homes, schools and office buildings).

If customers have any questions, they may call 1-800-452-6863. Additional information is available on Virginia American Water’s website, www.virginiaamwater.com, under the Alerts Notifications section.
