Press Releases
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2026) - Pennsylvania American Water has lifted the mandatory water conservation order for its Mechanicsburg water system, including parts of Silver Spring Township, Hampden Township, Lower Allen Township, Lemoyne Borough, Wormleysburg Borough, East Pennsboro Township, New Cumberland Borough, Fairview Township, Shiremanstown Borough, Camp Hill Borough, and Newberry Township, as of 10:30 a.m. today.
The water conservation order was initially issued on Feb. 21 when the company’s West Shore Water Treatment Plant, one of the system’s two water treatment plants, was taken offline due to upstream contamination on the Yellow Breeches Creek. Production has now been restored at the treatment plant following acceptable test results and approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Drinking water remains safe, and normal water use may now be resumed, though customers are encouraged to use water wisely. The company thanks customers for their patience, cooperation, and water conservation throughout the duration of the order.
Pennsylvania American Water is notifying affected customers that the conservation order has been lifted through its automated emergency notification system.
