Road Closure Needed on IL-67 Landmarks Boulevard
ALTON, ILL. (May 14, 2026) – Illinois American Water will begin repair work tomorrow on a section of Alton’s wastewater distribution system. The repair work on a 36-inch pipe will be completed on IL-67 Landmarks Boulevard between Henry Street and George Street.
In order to complete this work safely, Illinois American Water will close a portion of the westbound lanes of IL-67 Landmarks Boulevard beginning Thursday, May 14 at 9:00 am. Motorists will temporarily be routed north on Henry Street onto East Broadway Street, and back to IL-67 Landmarks Boulevard.
Motorists should use caution when driving in the area and obey traffic signs, detour routes and flaggers. If possible, motorists should avoid the area. Water and wastewater service to customers in the area will not be impacted by this repair work.
Illinois American Water is committed to working as safely and quickly as possible. Once repair work is complete, restoration of the roadway will begin. Restoration may take several days. The road closure and detour is expected to last through the afternoon of Saturday, May 16.
