Third annual event brings water education, resources and family-friendly activities to Asbury Park for the first time
CAMDEN, N.J. – JUNE 4, 2026 – New Jersey American Water will host “WaterFest,” a free, family-friendly event, in partnership with the City of Asbury Park on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Springwood Avenue Park in Asbury Park.
Now in its third year, WaterFest will be held in Asbury Park for the first time, bringing together residents from across the community for a day focused on water education, environmental stewardship and family-friendly fun.
WaterFest is designed to engage attendees on topics including water quality, conservation, environmental protection and lead service line replacement, with a focus on helping residents better understand their water service and available local resources.
Team members from New Jersey American Water will be available to provide more information and discuss these topics in depth with both customers and residents.
“Events like WaterFest are about more than a single day—they’re about building trust and helping customers better understand the role water plays in their daily lives,” said Mark McDonough, president of New Jersey American Water.
“Making services and resources easier to access starts with meeting people where they are,” said Sen. Vin Gopal. “Waterfest brings those resources directly to the community’s doorstep, helping to ensure more families can access and benefit from the support available to them.”
“Water quality and environmental awareness play an important role in protecting community health,” said Assemblywoman Margie Donlon, M.D., of the 11th Legislative District. “Waterfest helps make that connection clear, practical, and fun for families.”
“Access to clean, safe and reliable drinking water is essential, and so is access to clear, trustworthy information,” said Assemblywoman Luanne Peterpaul. “Creating those connections in a fun, approachable setting, like Waterfest, makes a lasting impact for residents of Asbury Park.”
The free event will feature interactive outdoor activities and resources designed for all ages, including:
- Interactive water exhibits and hands-on educational demonstrations
- Activities for all ages and community resource tables
- A touch-a-truck experience and water slide
- Refreshments and free produce provided by Interfaith Neighbors
“Providing fresh produce at events like WaterFest is one way we help meet people where they are,” said Heather Schulze Triarsi, associate executive director at Interfaith Neighbors. “It’s about making healthy options and supportive resources more accessible to the community.”
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bathing suit and towel to participate in water activities. WaterFest continues to serve as a platform for connecting communities with resources, education and support in a fun and accessible setting.
This event reflects New Jersey American Water’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and public education across the state. To learn more about New Jersey American Water’s community giving, visit newjerseyamwater.com/community.
