New Jersey American Water Lifts Boil Water Advisory for Portion of Bridgewater

Lift affects approximately 400 customers, two senior centers with 300 residents, Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, the Somerset County Library and Somerset County Vo-Tech High School

CAMDEN, N.J. – JUNE 14, 2026 – New Jersey American Water has lifted the mandatory boil water advisory issued following a loss of pressure caused by a 12-inch water main break on North Bridge Street in Bridgewater. The advisory affected approximately 400 customers, two senior centers with a combined 300 residents, the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, the Somerset County Library and Somerset County Vo-Tech High School in the impacted area, including customers along the following streets:

THE BOIL WATER ADVISORY IS LIFTED, and it is no longer necessary to boil your water before consuming. The following measures are strongly encouraged at this time:

  • Run your cold-water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main.
  • Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.
  • Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filter should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled (as applicable).

An alert is being sent to customers via the company’s emergency notification system notifying them of the lift, and it can also be viewed on New Jersey American Water’s website by visiting www.newjerseyamwater.com/alerts.
