Press Releases
Alexandria, VA, June 19, 2026 –Virginia American Water is working to expand our connections and link the new LivAway Suites Hotel building to existing main. As a result of the depth and location of the existing main, we will be closing down Perrymont Road to through traffic in order to carry out operations safely, starting June 22.
“Safety guides every decision we make as we invest in infrastructure improvements for the communities we serve,” said Bridget Adams, Field Operations Supervisor at Virginia American Water. “We appreciate Hopewell’s patience and cooperation as crews complete this important work safely.”
Weather permitting, our contractor, Perkinson Construction, will close a section of Perrymont Road from June 22 until the excavation is backfilled, most likely on June 24. Traffic will not be able to pass through Perrymont Road from the railroad tracks to Old Woodlawn Street.
Please be advised that traffic can still go around from the Old Woodlawn Street side. Visitors looking to go in and out of the Stay-Over Suites Hotel will still be able to use both entrances and emergency traffic will have a way to pass through.
Drivers should be alert for signs and barricades redirecting traffic.
Work hours will be between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. During construction, noise is unavoidable; however crews will do their best to minimize disturbances. Customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the duration of these temporary inconveniences.
