Both westbound lanes will be closed on a section of East Randolph Road on Wednesday June 24
Alexandria, VA, June 23, 2026 –Virginia American Water will begin an emergency water main repair in the City of Hopewell and will be closing the section of westbound East Randolph Road from East Broadway to East Cawson Street on June 24. Lanes will remain open for all eastbound traffic.
“The recent storms have worsened an existing main break, so we are fast tracking a scheduled main replacement project to minimize the impact to customers,” said Bridget Adams, Field Operations Supervisor at Virginia American Water. “We appreciate Hopewell’s patience and cooperation as crews complete this important work safely.”
Weather permitting, our contractor, Perkinson Construction, will close both westbound lanes on East Randolph Road between East Broadway and East Cawson Street until the project is complete. Westbound traffic will be detoured around the construction site. Crews will work as quickly as safely possible and anticipate completing the repair in approximately 12 hours and lifting road closures by the end of the day.
Drivers should be alert for signs and barricades redirecting traffic and should use extra caution when driving through work zones.
Work hours are expected to be between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
