Press Releases
Project will take place on Token Forest Drive starting the week of July 6
Alexandria, VA, June 24, 2026 – Beginning the week of July 6, Virginia American Water will begin an $800,000 infrastructure upgrade project in Dale City installing 1,470 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe.
The work will take place on Token Forest Drive from Purcell Road to 6231 Token Forest Drive.
This main extension project will improve water service reliability and increase water flows for firefighting.
“Upgrading aging infrastructure is essential to ensuring consistent, dependable service for our customers as well as improving operational efficiency”, said Charlie Piekanski, Vice President of Operations at Virginia American Water. “We pride ourselves in our long-term investments in the Commonwealth.”
Weather permitting, our contractor, Prince William Pipeline Corporation, will begin work the week of July 6 and be completed by the end of October 2026, including street restoration. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, during varying times between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Work on weekends and evenings is not expected unless required to maintain the project schedule.
It is important to note that our contractor will try to keep one traffic lane open at all times to local traffic as long as it can be done safely. The construction will not impede residents’ access to their homes and driveways. During construction, noise is unavoidable; however, crews will do their best to minimize disturbances.
