Both eastbound lanes will be closed at the intersection of West Randolph Road and Main Street from July 30 – 31
Alexandria, VA, July 27, 2026 –Virginia American Water will begin a valve repair in the City of Hopewell and the intersection of Randolph Road and Main Street will be closed to eastbound traffic starting at 7PM on July 30 and lasting until approximately noon on July 31. Lanes will remain open for all westbound traffic.
“Due to the complexity of the valve repair and its location, we need to redirect traffic to perform this important work” said Bridget Adams, Field Operations Supervisor at Virginia American Water. “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews complete this repair.”
Weather permitting, both eastbound lanes on West Randolph Road at the intersection of Randolph Road and Main Street will be closed until the project is complete. Eastbound traffic will be detoured around the construction site and signs will redirect traffic down 6th Street to Winston Churchill Drive. Crews will work as quickly and safely as possible, and Virginia American Water anticipates completing the valve repair and lifting road closures by noon on July 31.
Drivers should stay alert for signs and barricades redirecting traffic and should use extra caution when driving through work zones.
Customers in the immediate area may experience low pressure and should monitor the active alerts page on our website www.virginiaamwater.com under the alerts tab.
