COATESVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 8, 2026) – Pennsylvania American Water has lifted the mandatory water conservation order for its approximately 23,000 customer connections in its Coatesville water system.
With all four treatment filters back in service, the plant has regained enough production capacity to meet customer demand and lift the conservation order. The company thanks customers for helping reduce demand while it restored treatment capacity.
The water conservation order was initially issued on Sept. 6 after weather-related changes in local water sources increased treatment demands and temporarily reduced treatment capacity at the plant.
The Coatesville system includes all or parts of the city of Coatesville, Atglen, Parkesburg and South Coatesville boroughs, Caln, East Fallowfield, Highland, Valley West Brandywine and West Sadsbury townships in Chester County and Christiana and Quarryville boroughs, Bart, Colerain, Eden, and Sadsbury townships in Lancaster County.
