Charleston, W.Va., (July 23, 2025) – West Virginia American Water is pleased to announce a $375,000 infrastructure investment project in Kanawha City. The project, located on Venable Street, began the week of July 14th and includes replacing 760 feet of aging pipe with 8-inch PVC main.
“Investing in our infrastructure is essential to delivering safe, clean and reliable water to our customers every day,” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “This $375,000 project in Kanawha City is a critical part of our ongoing commitment to investing in our water systems, reducing service disruptions, and maintaining water quality for years to come.”
Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Venable Avenue from 51st Street to 53rd Street. Traffic restrictions will be in place. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, with the final street restoration completed in the fall of 2025.
This infrastructure upgrade project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $112 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2025, supporting the economic health of communities across the company’s service area. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout local economies.
Over the past decade, West Virginia American Water has invested over $736 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades to address aging infrastructure across the Mountain State, including more than 168 miles of new water main.
