West Virginia American Water Invests $260,000 in Bluefield Infrastructure Project

Charleston, W.Va., (July 31, 2025) – West Virginia American Water is pleased to announce a $260,000 infrastructure investment project in Bluefield. The project, located on Fincastle Lane, began the week of July 22 and includes replacing 1,120 feet of aging pipe with 2-inch PVC main.

“This project is a vital part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the water system in Bluefield and to help ensure long-term reliability for our customers,” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “By replacing aging infrastructure, we’re improving service today and helping to reduce service disruptions while maintaining a sound, resilient water system for years to come.”

Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with traffic restrictions in place for the duration of the project on Fincastle Lane from West Cumberland Road to the end of Fincastle Lane. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, with the final street restoration completed in the fall of 2025.

This infrastructure upgrade project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $112 million in infrastructure upgrades across the state in 2025, supporting the economic health of communities across the company’s service area. Economic impact studies show that for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure, upwards of 15 jobs are generated throughout local economies.

Over the past decade, West Virginia American Water has invested over $736 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades to address aging infrastructure across the Mountain State, including more than 168 miles of new water main. During construction, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure.
