West Virginia American Water Announces 2025 Community Advancement Grant

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (November 21, 2025) – West Virginia American Water announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Community Advancement Grant. Funding through this grant is available to encourage, honor, and celebrate organizations that aim to enhance opportunities and representation for all within our communities.   

  “We’re proud to introduce the Community Advancement Grant as a new chapter in our ongoing commitment to supporting underserved communities across West Virginia. This initiative not only helps expand access to opportunity but also strengthens the culture that defines West Virginia American Water. By investing in those who are driving change, we’re helping build a future where every community has the tools to thrive,” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. 

  “This grant is a powerful step toward expanding access to opportunity for those who’ve been left out of traditional support systems. By investing in organizations and community groups, we’re helping to drive real progress where it’s needed most,” said Sarah Wade, External Affairs Specialist and imPACT Culture Champion at West Virginia American Water.  

  West Virginia American Water’s 2025 Community Advancement Grant will provide financial assistance to organizations seeking to develop and implement programs, training or community-related projects that strengthen our communities. The maximum grant amount is $2,500.   

  To qualify for a grant, the organization, project or event must:     

  • Be located within a West Virginia American Water's service area   
  • Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as significant expansion to an existing program   
  • Promote progress for people who have less access to programs or services in the community the organization serves.   
  • Applicant must be classified as a 501(c)(3) public charity or K-12 public school, college, or university 

  Individuals and religious organizations are not eligible to receive grants. Only nonprofit organizations within West Virginia American Water’s service territory are eligible to receive funding.   

  Additional information and the application can be found on the Community Advancement Grant page of the company’s website. Applications must be emailed or postmarked by Friday, November 28, 2025. All applicants will be notified if their application is approved and the amount of funding.
