New Jersey American Water Presents Volunteer Fire and EMS Grant to Magnolia Ambulance Corps

$2,273 in Funding Supports Defibrillator Purchase

CAMDEN, N.J. – JULY 1, 2026 – New Jersey American Water presented Magnolia Ambulance Corps, Inc. in Magnolia, N.J. with a $2,273.50 grant as part of the company's 2026 Volunteer Fire and EMS Grant Program, which awarded about $50,000 to 21 volunteer fire and EMS departments across its service areas. Magnolia Ambulance Corps, Inc. will use the funding to purchase a Philips HeartStart FRx Automated External Defibrillator to equip its Emergency Services First Response Unit, helping to provide lifesaving defibrillation quickly when an ambulance is not yet on scene.

Magnolia Ambulance Corps serves approximately 20,000 residents across the Boroughs of Hi-Nella, Laurel Springs, Lawnside, Magnolia, Somerdale, and Stratford with a volunteer staff of 35 members.

"Every department knows its own needs best, and this program is designed to help local responders invest in the tools that will make the biggest difference in their communities," said Kim Schalek Downes, vice president of Business Development, Government and External Affairs. "We're proud to support that work year after year."

This year's grants will support a variety of initiatives across participating departments, including the purchase of gas leak detectors, gas meters, defibrillators, thermal imaging cameras, and other critical lifesaving equipment.

Since launching the program in 2011, New Jersey American Water has awarded 353 grants totaling more than $587,500 to 176 local volunteer fire departments and emergency response units in its service areas. More information about the program is available at www.newjerseyamwater.com/community.
